Illuminations

Sex Toy Reviewer Medieval Illumination Series pt. 1

Let me start at the beginning. I’m a member of the Society of Creative Anachronism, where we “reenact” the Middle Ages. We do all kinds of activities. Everything from sword fighting, to archery, fiber arts like spinning and weaving, sewing/costuming and of course calligraphy and illumination. I’ve done a few small illuminated pieces before, and I’ve really enjoyed doing them. I was working on a small piece for my local kingdom a few weeks ago and watching the scroll on twitter when I thought to myself

I assumed that my (mildly funny) tweet would get a few likes and I’d move on with my day. But no… A LOT of you liked it, and told me it was a good idea, and I should do it… and… and I caved to societal pressure. It did sound like it would be fun, after all. So I put a call out to see who might be interested in participating in this silly little project. And again, A LOT of people wanted to sign up! More people than I could draw all at once, so I decided to make this into a series. One reviewer at a time, illuminated in the medieval style, holding their favorite sex toy.

So who’s the lucky first victim? Why, it’s Kitten Boheme of course! Holding her (current) favorite toy, Uberrime’s Night King dildo.

And because I’m a good SCAdian, I always provide my documentation. The illumination is inspired by one in a manuscript on falconry by Fredric II that is housed in the French National Library.

So, where do we go from here? Why, on to the next illumination of course. Who’s going to be my next lucky victim? You’ll have to stick around to find out! Want your own (totally awesome) illumination? Contact me on twitter, and we’ll see what happens. 🙂

Stay safe friends, and I’ll see you soon.
