The Pegging Book

Everything you always wanted to know about pegging, but had no idea where to even get starting asking because let’s be honest, sex in general can be an uncomfortable topic to broach, and an activity like pegging is unfairly steeped in shame by a society that has no idea how to deal with sexual pleasure in a positive way.

Cooper S. Beckett, one of the co-authors of this delightful missive reached out and offered me an Advanced Reader Copy of this book in exchange for a brief review and y’all, I’m so glad I said yes. I loaded it up onto my eReader, got myself cozy on the couch, and dove straight in.

It’s not a long book (less than 200 pages, I read it all in one sitting), but it is completely packed with information that you need if pegging is in your future.

The authors define their terms, get into the weeds of why specific language matters and give you a game plan of what to expect as you read through the book.

So what can you expect from the book? A lot, like really, a lot of information in a quick and easy to read book. The authors give an overview of: Anatomy, kink, orgasms, stigma, hygiene/health concerns & consent. And that’s all before even diving in to the how-to aspects of the book. The authors have really covered a lot of ground here and I would highly recommend spending some time digging through these sections. Don’t just skip to the how-to, there’s a reason this information has been included, it’s important.

(They also treat us to a short overview of representations of pegging in popular media, which is such a fun little section. I was surprised to see this in the book, but pleasantly so. Media shapes so much of our world view and taking the time to unpack some of the bad (and good!) ways that pegging has been represented can go a long way to de-stigmatizing an act that can feel shameful for a lot of us.)

A photo of an eReader showing the Pegging Book open to a section called "And Now... Pegging" underneath is a double-ended dildo with lube on it
Yes, I got lube on my kindle while taking this photo…

The how-to section of the book is also jam-packed with juicy info including sections about general hygiene concerns, getting through mental blocks, safe sex, the reasons you might want to go at it in a sober state and why lube should be your best best best friend. There’s even a section on where to buy your “tools” (heehee)

And positions! Accompanied by some lovely, simplistic but clarifying illustrations the authors give us a quick overview of some of the best positions for pegging, with “advantages”, “challenges” and “best tools of the job” for each one.

Pegging is one of those sex acts that can feel overwhelming. Even when you get past all of the “is it okay to want this?” (yes) and the “should we even be doing this?” (if you want to, yes) hang-ups, you still may not know where to start. And if that describes you, or someone you want to be having sexy fun times with… then this book is for you. It’s got you covered from top to bottom (I couldn’t resist, sorry not sorry). It comes out from Thornapple Press this week! So go ahead and snag yourself a pre-order copy now!

Once again, thank you to Cooper S. Beckett, who was kind enough to give me an ARC of the book in exchange for my thoughts and words.
